Vegas rOxxOr3d : CES 2008
Veni, vidi, vici baby. Oh yeah. For the entirety of the past four days I've been jetlagged, just barely getting over being sick, with blistered feet trapped in horrible dress shoes not made for walking 84 miles in one day, and consistently feeling the unpleasant aftereffects of the previous night's festivities. But they couldn't stop me. Overflowing people, traffic, everything criminally expensive, pervert cabbies, and nowhere to sit down for one second. Didn't matter. I still pwned CES hard and cleaned up at the blackjack table. That's just the way I roll. They'll learn.
If I thought I was going to get some epiphany from seeing anything the 8 million booths on the show floor, I was wrong. In fact, the coolest thing I saw at the convention itself was randomly walking by Train doing an acoustic cover of Zeppelin's Ramble On, wo0t! The rest of the stuff here was alot of flashy booths and stuff I could appreciate better reading in the news. Take it all away, this trip would still have been 100% the awesome trip that it was. The action was all in the private conferences, parties, and meetings that we attended, back to back, one after the other, jam-packed together. I did not stop rushing from one to the next, without even time to get online, check email, or do any Puget daily business whatsoever. I was completely disconnected by sheer volume of events.
So, it's going to take me a little bit to process all of this. Alot's going on, alot coming up, and I've got plenty to think and write about for a while. But, I'm glad to be home, I'm going to sleep in my own bed, in my own time zone, at my own computer, and get back to the grind tomorrow.
Did I mention I ate venison cooked by an Iron Chef? Awesome. Did I mention I stayed in a casino that was a monstrous glass pyramid with Wonkavators? Awesome. Did I mention I saw pro gamer Fatal1ty at a Creative Labs event playing some kid in Unreal using this guitar thing he made instead of a regular keyboard and mouse? Meh.. I could take him :)
It was a blast.
